Ancelotti turns on AC Milan players: Not good enough

Carlo Ancelotti turned on his AC Milan players after their shock 2-1 defeat by Sampdoria.

Samp jumped to a 2-0 lead inside the first 25 minutes through Christian Maggio and Gennaro Delvecchio. Milan youngster Alberto Paloschi managed to pull a goal back inside the final 20 minutes, but the visitors held out for a famous San Siro win.

"This is not good," said Ancelotti. "We went 2-0 down in scandalous fashion.

"We made two unforgivable mistakes and then it became very difficult to make up for them. The approach to the game was totally wrong.

"Admittedly Kaka going off after nine minutes weighed on the team, but we really got it all wrong tonight."

This was meant to be the game that propelled the Rossoneri towards the top four, but they seemed sluggish and complacent.

"Perhaps the team is getting a bit tired and old in terms of mentality, but we should wait until the end of the season to discuss this. They are considerations we must make in June.

"Tonight Sampdoria were far more determined. The problem we've had this year has been on home turf, where we always struggled. In any case, I am not thinking of leaving my post."

The Blucerchiati are now just one point adrift of mighty Milan and Walter Mazzarri could not be happier.

"The team is improving and playing excellent football," said the tactician. "In the second half we fell behind a bit, but the first period was wonderful to see.

"Now we are focusing on the next match, as they are all difficult and we cannot afford to look too far ahead. We'll see where we are at the end of the season."
