Ancelotti: Real Madrid president Perez wanted me for seven years

New Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti admits he's been wanted by president Florentino Perez for seven years.

Ancelotti was unveiled as new Real coach yesterday after gaining a release from his contract at PSG.

"It is seven years since the first time that the president said that he wanted me to be Real Madrid’s coach," said Ancelotti.

"It has been a long time coming, but I'm here and I'm very happy. I want to thank the presidents of Real Madrid and PSG, and Jose Angel Sanchez, who have done a great job. I'm happy to be here today and have a lot of ambition to do a great job and help the club win in line with its tradition and history: playing spectacular football."

Ancelotti continued: "All of the teams that I've coached have played attacking football. We scored a lot of goals with Milan as well as Juventus, PSG and Chelsea. My idea is to play attacking and spectacular football. Real Madrid’s history and tradition are to play offensively. Fans want us to do well and the team has fantastic players with a lot of quality. So it will not be difficult to play spectacular football."
