Victory over Napoli last night has Milan looking down on the rest of Italy and Ancelotti beamed: "We are not racing against Inter in particular. We are racing against ourselves and pushing to get more tempo, determination and movement. We had problems and are slowly getting over them.
"Admittedly, few thought after the first two games that we would be on top of the table so quickly."
Kaka had a penalty saved before German Denis' own goal.
"The team took the right approach all the way through and fought hard, trying to play right to the end, when we received our just reward.
"I think we had many, many chances - no doubt helped by the extra man - but we attacked from all sides and got the full-backs forward too."
Ancelotti added: "This year we have more strikers at our disposal compared to last season, when at this stage we were without Ronaldo and Pato plus Inzaghi had injury worries.
"There are many more options now and that gives us remarkable potential upfront."
