Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti urged fans to be proud after missing out on Champions League qualification.
Defeat at Liverpool ended their hopes.
But Ancelotti said, “We have to accept it, even if this is very disappointing, as we did everything we could. Over the six games, we perhaps did more than anyone expected and came very close to qualification, so there are no regrets.
“We take these performances to the Europa League and will use that as motivation to go forward in that tournament too.
“We lacked a little sharpness when building the forward play, as Liverpool pressed us very high and in the second half it was more disorganised from both sides.
“It's true that Liverpool had chances on the counter, but that's because we needed to score and so were a little more unbalanced."
