Carlo Ancelotti has explained why he turned down a return to AC Milan last summer.

Ancelotti was offered the job after being sacked by Real Madrid.

“It's true that Milan had offered me the bench this summer, but I preferred not to accept so I could relax for a while," said Ancelotti.

“Now I'm thinking of having a break and going on vacation before starting up again next season."
