Ancelotti: Chelsea's Torres suffering confidence crisis since before Liverpool move

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti says Fernando Torres is suffering a confidence crisis. Ancelotti failed to get Torres firing during their six months together at Chelsea.

He told the Telegraph: "When Fernando arrived at Chelsea he had the same problem - a lack of confidence in front of goal. We thought it was because he'd changed clubs and changed team-mates and needed time to get to know them better. Now I think it's different. Last season he lost even more confidence, but I hope he will be able to reach the level he achieved at Liverpool.

"It's always a problem for strikers when they don't score. It was a problem for [Filippo] Inzaghi, it was a problem for [Andrei] Shevchenko and a problem for [Hernan] Crespo. I played Crespo for six months at Parma and he didn't score. If you believe in the player you have to stick with them. Torres still has ability and Chelsea believe in him.

"Drogba is another story. There's a lot of competition and it could be good to have Drogba and Torres together, but it's difficult for them technically. You could put them together, but you'd have to build a different shape and different system behind them. You'd have to support them from midfield. I don't regret standing by Fernando. I wanted to support him. He needed to have time to return to his best and he needed time to play."
