Ancelotti backs Chelsea skipper Terry for key England role at World Cup

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Blues captain John Terry will play a key role for England at the World Cup this summer. The 29-year-old has endured a turbulent season after being stripped of his England captaincy in the wake of allegations about his private life, but towards the end of the season appeared to regain confidence.

"John Terry played well all year," said Ancelotti.

"Maybe he had some difficult moments but he was able to keep his private problems outside the training ground.

"He finished the season very well. He is focused and fit and I think he will have a fantastic World Cup for England."
