Los Angeles Galaxy striker Landon Donovan could be on his way to Everton on a short-term loan, Toffees chief executive Robert Elstone has confirmed. Major League Soccer's season has finished and any deal to secure Donovan would be similar to the one which has seen Galaxy team-mate David Beckham re-join AC Milan next month.

"Landon is a player David Moyes has identified as someone he would like to bring to the club," chief executive Robert Elstone told the official club's website.

"We are working to make that happen and hope we can reach agreement soon with all the appropriate parties."

If negotiations are successfully completed, the forward would join Everton on January 2.
