Shola Ameobi is preparing to leave Newcastle United as his contract winds down.
The Daily Star says Ameobi, 32, won't be offered a new deal, and is set to try his luck in the Championship after snubbing a lucrative move to join Sven Goran Eriksson at ambitious Chinese Super League side Guangzhou.
He will decide on his future after returning from the World Cup finals in Brazil, where he hopes to play a prominent role for Nigeria.
