Shola Ameobi is expected to still be with Newcastle United for the final days of the summer transfer window.

Sources close to Ameobi have told The Journal that it is unlikely the striker will depart St James's Park in the next fortnight - and may not leave until the Premier League season is under way.

It is a frustrating impasse for the player, who has attracted interest from Stoke City, Norwich and West Brom this summer but is yet to have a firm bid submitted for him.
