Shola Ameobi insists he only wants to play for Newcastle United.

Despite interest from Ipswich and Norwich City, Ameobi told the Evening Chronicle: "I make no secret of the fact that I want to play for Newcastle United.

"First and foremost, I want to stay here. Hopefully I will be given my chance in the next few months to do that.

"We have a few players out and I want to grab my chance. If I can do that then great.

"But it is down to me, I have to stay fit and make sure I work hard to try to improve my fitness and my all-round game."
