Shola Ameobi has no doubts Newcastle United will be competitive in next season's Premiership.

Striker Ameobi reckons that teams won't relish coming to St James' Park after the Toon's season long unbeaten run, and says that the black-and-whites can surprise some of the top-flight powerhouses on Tyneside.

Ameobi told the Evening Chronicle: "Hopefully, our home form can mirror what we did last season.

"That'll be very important for us - being solid at home and nicking a few points away from home."
