Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi claims he should have been awarded a penalty during the game with Manchester City. Ameobi went down in the box under the challenge of Joleon Lescott but referee Martin Atkinson waved play on, despite awarding a harsh spot-kick against Magpies defender Mike Williamson.
"At the end, Joleon Lescott has slid into me in the box and has taken me out," he told the Newcastle Chronicle.
"I'm still trying to figure out why the referee hasn't given a penalty.
"Anywhere else on the pitch, and it's a free-kick.
"I think he felt the pressure from the crowd a little bit. Unfortunately, it's led to us not coming away with a valuable point."
He added: "We thought we fully deserved something out of the game. It was a tale of two penalties.
"We felt hard done by in the first half by the one that was given against us.
"Mike got the ball, but the referee didn't see it that way."
