AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini admits they've disappointed in Serie A this season.

"In past years this team has always had wonderful moments in that competition. It's true that perhaps we could have done better in Serie A in previous seasons, too," mused Ambrosini.

"We have had to deal with numerous injuries to important players and those affected us, even if we will not use them as an alibi.

"It is curious that so many Italian sides have been plagued by injuries, such as Juventus, Inter and Roma. The Giallorossi had to play a Champions League decider with Arsenal in absurd conditions.

"It is certainly disappointing, because traumatising injuries to the knee can happen, but they are part of the sport like bad luck and a few setbacks."
