Afonso Alves insists he doesn't mind the cold on Teesside as he settles at Middlesbrough.

He said: "I've played in much colder places - in fact I like it when there's a bit of rain.

"I'm staying calm. I'm sure the first goal will come soon. I've played four games now but in the first two I was getting to know my new team-mates.

"The second two games were good as I played for almost 90 minutes.

"As far as I can see the food here looks pretty good. I'll just be eating what the locals do. As for fish and chips, I've never heard of them. What's that?"
