Aluko close to Rangers deal but Aberdeen could be owed compensation

Sone Aluko is reportedly one trial game away from landing a deal with Rangers but the Glasgow giants may have to stump up a compensation fee to his former club Aberdeen.

The 22-year old attacker is set to play in a closed doors match against St Mirren today as Ally McCoist seeks a replacement for the injured Steven Naismith.

A deal looks likely although McCoist is worried about a possible compensation fee 'Gers may have to pay to Aberdeen - the club Aluko departed at the end of last season.

The Dons insist they would be due around £250,000 for 'development compensation' if Aluko signs for a club outside Scotland and feel that Rangers should be forced to pay a similar sum.

However, Aluko's representatives say that this is not the case as Aberdeen signed him from Birmingham City and threw him straight into the first team, thwarting the 'development' part of the deal.
