Jozy Altidore continued his impressive form for AZ Alkmaar on the weekend with his 25th goal of the season in all competitions.
The American striker netted in the 74th minute as AZ were beaten 3-2 at home by Eredivisie leaders Ajax, taking his league tally to 18.
Altidore, who broke Clint Dempsey's European scoring record in a season when he netted his 24th goal recently, raced onto an Adam Maher long ball to slot home from the left side of the area to give AZ some hope by reducing the deficit to one goal.
However, the home side could not force an equaliser as they remain 14th on the table with Altidore sitting fourth on the league scoring charts behind Vitesse Arnhem's Wilfried Bony (26), Feyenoord's Graziano Pelle (21) and Heerenveen's Alfred Finnbogason (20).
