Jozy Altidore was on fire on the weekend, netting a hat-trick for AZ Alkmaar to become the highest-scoring American player in European competition.
The 23-year old scored all of his goals in the first half as AZ hammered FC Utrecht 6-0 at home, converting from the penalty spot in the 28th and 34th minutes, before completing the treble with a 37th minute header.
The goals took Altidore's Dutch Eredivisie tally to 21 whilst took his season total to 28 in all competitions, setting new records for an American playing in Europe.
The hat-trick was the former New York Red Bull, Villarreal, Hull City and Bursaspor attackers third of the campaign and helped send AZ up to 13th on the table, six points clear of the drop zone. In addition, Altidore has scored 21 of Alkmaar's 47 league goals so far this term.
