Altidore double helps AZ arrest winless streak in Holland

Jozy Altidore was back to scoring form to help AZ Alkmaar to a 2-1 win over PEC Zwolle on the weekend.

The American striker netted in just the second minute of the away match when he eventually rounded Zwolle keeper Diederik Boer after he had denied his initial attempt before slotting home Roy Beerens' low cross in the 33rd minute.

Denni Avdic got one back for Zwolle ten minutes into the second half before they were reduced to ten men when Joey van den Berg was sent off in the 77th minute.

The victory allowed AZ to end a six-game winless run in the Eredivisie which saw them remain 12th on the table.

Altidore's goals were his 10th and 11th of the season in the league taking his season tally to 14 in all competitions. He sits fourth on the Dutch scoring chart after breaking a four-game scoring drought.
