Pundits, Bloggers and US Men's National Team fans alike were all looking at Spain closely this weekend. Jozy Altidore featured for Villarreal against Getafe on Saturday and the young American striker played 90 minutes in a major La Liga match.

Altidore was not on the score sheet as Villarreal fought back from 3-0 to secured a draw and stay in touch at the top of the La Liga table. Initial match reports indicated that Altidore held his own, in only his second league start for Villarreal since joining the club in August.

US Men's National Team players have over the past few months found it increasingly difficult to secure match time for their European clubs.
