Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic is fighting for his Blues future.

The London Evening Standard says should Marcus Alonso impress on debut for Chelsea tonight, it could have major ramifications for their season and the future of veteran Ivanovic.

Alonso will make his first appearance for the club in the Third Round of the EFL Cup at Leicester having joined from Fiorentina for on the final day of the transfer window last month.

There are concerns at Stamford Bridge that at 32, Ivanovic's best days are behind him.

In January, he was given a one-year extension after prolonged contract talks that would see him stay at the club to the end of this campaign.
