Mikel Alonso is determined to make his mark at new club Bolton Wanderers.
The on-loan Real Sociedad midfielder told the Manchester Evening News: "There have been a couple of opportunities to come to England to play before but nothing seriously. I never had a chance like this one.
Alonso clinched a deal after a successful trial during the club's Austrian training camp.
"I just want to be better and more complete as a player every day," he added, in almost flawless English. "I've only been here two weeks but already I have a good feeling about the club and the people. I knew last season Bolton finished seventh so they must be a good team. And playing in the UEFA Cup was a great attraction."
Alonso is a big supporter of brother Xavi and the games against Liverpool have already been pencilled in.
"I have watched a lot of Premiership games and my brother told me all about it," he said. "It's good to have someone like him to help me settle in.
"When I had three or four days off I would come to England to see him. Now it's going to be a lot easier."
