Mikel Alonso feels he has no future at Bolton, but is hopeful he will play for another Premier League club next season.
Xabi Alonso’s brother made a positive start to the season following his loan move from Real Sociedad, but fell out of favour when Sammy Lee was replaced by caretaker Archie Knox and then by Gary Megson.
Alonso’s agent is adamant a player who has only appeared seven times in the season for Wanderers will not be offered a permanent deal, and he has revealed the 27-year-old would like to remain in The Premier League.
"In principle Bolton have an option to sign him but it is difficult because Mikel is not playing right now," Inaki Ibanez told Diario Vasco.
"He had bad luck. When he was at his best he was managed by Sammy Lee, he injured himself and spent weeks on the sidelines.
"His recovery corresponded to the appointment of a new manager and he lost the status he had at Bolton.
"In principle he will return to Real Sociedad with who he is under contract. Then we will see what will happen. I hope he will carry on in The Premier League."
