Aloisi urges Moore to play on for Australia

Australian striker John Aloisi hopes that fellow 2006 World Cup star Craig Moore will lend his experience as the Socceroos try to reach the 2010 finals.

Australia have been drawn in a tough group for the third stage of qualification and will face Asian champions Iraq as well as China and Qatar.

Moore, who joined A-League club Queensland Roar in the summer, hasn't played for the Socceroos since November 2006 but Aloisi believes that the former Newcastle and Rangers defender is needed.

"I am not 100 per cent sure if he is going to play on but it would be great to see him out there because he has so much experience, he's had a great career and he is one of the best defenders ever to play for Australia," Aloisi told AAP.

"Someone like him with so much experience at the back, whoever plays alongside him will learn a lot and Craig can take them through the game a lot easier.

"With quite a few young boys in the team, hopefully Craig will consider playing on."
