Almunia: No Arsenal No1 guarantee from Wenger

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia admits manager Arsene Wenger hasn't told him - or rival Jens Lehmann - who is his first-choice.

"No. The only thing the boss said to me was that I should play my normal game, do everything that I know, and not worry about anything else," the Spaniard told the Observer.

"Always on your mind is the possibility that you can leave,' he adds. 'But Arsenal for me is the biggest club and the best club I've ever known. So it would be very difficult to leave because they have given me everything."

During the summer, though, he did seriously consider offers from clubs in Spain: "But I promised the boss at the end of last season that I would stay here for a long time."

Now that he is threatening Lehmann's place, how are the two getting on?

"Fine. Our work relationship is normal. We respect each other, we do our job. There is no problem."

So will he be disappointed if the German is restored? "Of course. I expect to play. I'm enjoying playing, and winning with this team. It will be very hard to go back to the bench."
