Almunia continues attack on Arsenal teammates

Manuel Almunia says underfire Arsenal teammate William Gallas was right in his criticism of the club's young players.

The goalkeeper snapped: "Everybody has to give more than they did against Porto.

"I wasn't happy with our display and every player has to realise the Champions League is the biggest competition in Europe.

"I don't care if we've already qualified for the next phase.

"Everyone has to take responsibility and give more for the team. It's that simple.

"William had his opinion and it's for the players to react and give more.

"This is Arsenal. The club has thousands of fans and we have to realise that to wear an Arsenal shirt is a big honour. You have to be worthy of the shirt.

"We are so upset. We are not happy with this season. We've had some brilliant moments against Chelsea and Manchester United. But it's not enough.

"I don't know what's happening against the smaller teams. We should have more character on the pitch, we need to stop being nice, be more aggressive and give more.

"The club gives us everything that we need, it's so easy.

"The only thing is it's a bit boring because we spend so much time in hotel rooms. But, for the rest, we fly on a private plane, have the best hotels in Europe and have everything.

"Every time we lose we should all feel responsible."
