Alli gets back on the scoresheet as Tottenham sneak past Barnsley

Dele Alli's second half goal was enough for Tottenham to advance to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup as they defeated Barnsley 1-0 on Tuesday night.

In a dull affair at Wembley, Spurs took 62 minutes to register a shot on target as Fernando Llorente struggled in his first start for the club.

But shortly after Alli opened the scoring to ease the home crowd's nerves. After Keiran Trippier flashed down the right-wing, he picked out Alli in the six-yard box.

The England international then celebrated by cupping his ear towards the crowd - which consisted of just 23,926.
