Allen sings praises of 'hard working' Stoke teammate Sobhi

Joe Allen believes that the key to Stoke City recovering their form and getting out of the relegation fight is competition for places.

The midfielder believes that Stoke cannot hope to get a better league position if players are not giving the manager a selection headache.

He also praised Ramadan Sobhi, who got into the team for the game against Huddersfield Town and grabbed a goal.

"Ramadan got his goal last week and that probably gave him the confidence to get in there. Coming off the bench to get two in two and have that impact is great," he said.

"He's settling in, of course he is, and he's still a young lad – people forget just how young he is. He's adapting all the time, he works hard day in, day out and he's getting his rewards for that.

"It's good to have that competition. It's something we need more of, I think, competition for places – and the way he's chipping in with goals he's going to be pushing everyone for a start."
