Allen: Liverpool happy to have Champions League destiny in our hands

Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen says they can be pleased to have their Champions League hopes in their own hands.

The Reds need to beat Basel in their final Group B game at Anfield on December 9 if they are going to progress as runners-up to Real Madrid.

"It's still in our hands and that's a big bonus for us," Allen told the Liverpool Echo.

"We all believe we can do it. We're at Anfield and we'll be calling on all our supporters to get behind us and make it a seriously tough night for Basel.

"When we got the fixtures at the start of the campaign we would have targeted the Basel game as one where we needed to get three points and that hasn't changed."
