Allegri uncertain of Juventus stay for Man Utd target Pogba

Massimiliano Allegri admits he is none the wiser as to whether or not Paul Pogba will be remaining a Juventus player.

The French midfielder is the subject of strong interest from Manchester United who are preparing to pay a world-record transfer fee of just over £100million.

There have been incessant rumours this week regarding an Old Trafford return for the 23-year-old with many media outlets reporting that the deal has been done.

Allegri today denied those claims but did indicate he is unsure if Pogba would be staying put with the five-in-a-row Italian champions.

"At the moment I can tell you that Pogba is a Juventus player," Allegri said at the pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday night's International Champions Cup meeting with A-League club Melbourne Victory.

"We do not know what is going to happen."

Regardless of Pogba's future in Turin, the manager was supremely confident that he has a top quality squad capable of competing for trophies at all levels in 2016/17.

"I can tell you that we have got four first class players in Dani Alves, (Miralem) Pjanic, (Marko) Pjaca and (Medhi) Benatia," he added.

"Of course we have until the 31st of August, which is the end of the transfer market, so anything can happen.

"But we feel confident that by the end of August, Juventus are going to have a good team that will be strong and able to compete in all competitions."
