Cagliari boss Massimiliano Allegri was relieved after collecting their first point of the season in their 0-0 stalemate with AC Milan.
He said: "When the results don't come, the Coach is the one who pays the price. The President visited us this week and encouraged the squad."
However, President Massimo Cellino also confessed that he had given Allegri an ultimatum before this encounter.
"He is a good man, a Coach who works very hard and in this business you need a bit of luck," said the fiery patron.
"We played a good game, it wasn't our only one of the campaign, but in previous occasions we hadn't picked up any points.
"I know the media love me to change Coach every week - and occasionally I do - but I had given Allegri another five games to turn it around.
"People called me demented when I brought in Davide Ballardini last year and he proved to be brilliant, so I feel the same way about Allegri."
