Massimiliano Allegri says he's ready to take on the challenge of leading AC Milan next season.
Allegri would've taken over at San Siro a month ago, but only this week did Cagliari release him from his contract after a bitter split with President Massimo Cellino.
"It could've been resolved so much sooner and with a relaxed attitude. At the end of the day Cellino does care for me. He hopes both I and Milan can win the Champions League," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is a huge step up for Allegri, who was sacked by Cagliari towards the end of the season because he was 'distracted' by other offers.
"I am not afraid. Do you know how many of my colleagues would like to be in my place right now? I like a challenge.
"This is a squad that has won a great deal, but still has a lot to give. People forget victories very quickly, so the only way to keep them on side is to keep winning."
