Massimiliano Allegri is not bitter over his sacking by Cagliari president Massimo Cellino last week.

Cellino admits he dismissed Allegri over constant speculation linking him with the likes of AC Milan and Juventus.

“I wish to thank again those people who have been close to me in the course of my experience with Cagliari, starting with President Cellino to whom I will always be grateful for the big opportunity he gave me,” Allegri said.

“I would like to thank in particular all the employees at the club, from the groundsmen who are very often invisible, but do a fundamental job for a team to have a successful season.

“I cannot forget the extraordinary affection of the fans who have always supported us in less happier times and the warm reception that I received in the city.

“And last but not least the players. They are a fantastic group who I had the pleasure and the fortune to lead in the last two years, getting good results.

“I will always remain affectionate towards this team.”
