Former AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri feels they did all they could to keep Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo.
Allegri believes it is pointless for Milan to have any regrets over what has happened.
"It was a decision made by Andrea and by the club, who decided not to renew the contracts of players over 30 by more than one year," Allegri commented.
"He is doing very well with Juventus and with the national team. Now with Italy he is playing in the same position I wanted to play him in three years ago, but people said I was crazy!
"Pirlo is a great champion, but Milan made their decision and when you make decisions you can't have regrets.
"However, it was also a decision made by Andrea, not just by me or the club."
