Alleged racist abuse of Everton players leads to arrest

Police have arrested a 15-year-old male on suspicion of racist behaviour in the FA Cup fourth-round tie between Carlisle and Everton, reports Sky Sports.

The Football Association and Cumbria Police launched an investigation after Everton players Aroune Kone and Stephen Pienaar alleged they were subjected to racist abuse from the Warwick Road End stand at Brunton Park during the game last weekend.

The male, from Carlisle, has been arrested on suspicion of racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress by words contrary to Section 4a of the Public Order Act and has been bailed until March 9.
