West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has told fans he hopes to buy a striker in January.
The London Evening Standard says West Ham skipper Kevin Nolan, together with co-chairman David Gold and boss Allardyce, were answering questions at a fans' forum on Tuesday night at Upton Park.
Allardyce said the club intend to sign a striker during next month's transfer window. Gold said any such move was likely to be a loan deal with a view to buy next summer.
Allardyce added that the club had tried to sign Demba Ba from Chelsea during the summer but that the striker had decided to stay at Stamford Bridge just "three hours" before the deadline, which meant that Romelu Lukaku - another target of West Ham - went to Everton instead.
