Allardyce: Relegation will mean 45% redundancies at Blackburn

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has made crystal clear the "enormity" of suffering relegation this season.

"The enormity of staying in the Premier League is this," said Big Sam. "It is not just the players who would be halved or cut back on.

"It would be the whole of the staff at Blackburn Rovers.

"Myself, the staff and the players are responsible for making sure there are not 45 per cent redundancies at this football club.

"That would happen if you got relegated by the simple financial numbers that are taken away from you and the devastation it brings.

"That is our responsibility when we walk around the ground and walk round the club. To think those people who may have been here a long time might be told they can't work here any more.

"It would be a devastating blow for anybody. You have to match up the numbers of playing in the Premiership and Championship and that means redundancies and people being laid off.

"That is the last thing I have come here for. I have come here to grow a club and hopefully get it back to what it has done, not go through the emotional turmoil that relegation would bring."
