Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce heaped praise on his side following their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday.
The Eagles produced a battling display against the second-place side, but they were eventually undone by Christian Eriksen's 30-yard stunner in the 78th minute of the game.
Allardyce said: "I thought the performance in the first half was much better than Sunday, and we took the game to Tottenham whenever we possibly could which is not an easy task with the quality that they've got.
"The lack of recovery time for us from Sunday to tonight told in the end and that made us not able to challenge Tottenham as much as we did in the first half, and they got in the game a little bit more.
"After that, it was about whether we could be as resilient defensively as we have been, but unfortunately with Eriksen's goal we couldn't. It was a terrific effort and a terrific performance, and the lads tried their very best to keep Tottenham out."
