Former Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce says the board shouldn't be hasty over Frank de Boer's future.

De Boer faces the sack this weekend should Palace lose to Burnley.

"I think it's been something that certainly Steve [Parish] and the American owners wouldn't have wanted to happen after what happened last season," he told talkSPORT.

"And Frank [de Boer], on his experience and what he has done as a player and as a manager, seemed a good choice, but in the end they have struggled to start the season as well as they would have liked.

"He has got this international break but to have the threat of win [at Burnley] or be sacked if that is the case - and I don't know if that is the case - it adds to the pressure, not just with him, but more importantly the players."
