West Ham boss Sam Allardyce was delighted to see Joey O'Brien on target in the 4-0 win at Watford, after the former Bolton midfielder signed for the Hammers after a successful trial this summer. "It was not only a great thrill for him, it was a great thrill for me because this lad has been forgotten about for a number of years now and almost cast aside," said Allardyce.
"When you see the quality of that goal, it really did give us the opportunity to go out in that second half and show what we can do in terms of controlling and passing the ball.
"What we made Watford do was chase and chase and chase until they couldn't chase any more. We finally killed them off with another two very good goals from Carlton Cole and Scott Parker."
