Allardyce hopes Bolton's Jaaskelainen follows Barber to Newcastle

Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is laying the foundations to land Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Allardyce intends to bring his old goalkeeper coach, Fred Barber, from Bolton as a replacement for Terry Gennoe, who is retiring due to a back injury.

And the Daily Star Sunday says Allardyce is banking on Barber's presence to convince Jaaskelainen to snub a new contract offer at Bolton and follow him to St James' Park.
