Allardyce determined to solve problem of England player mind games

New England boss Sam Allardyce is determined to solve the psychological problems that have seen the players freeze when playing for the Three Lions.

"The pressure that comes on players is something we may look at in a little bit more depth," he told the media at St. George's Park.

"In the Premier League it's very similar as the money has got greater. But we want to look at all areas; fitness, tactics, nutrition.

"I'm very excited. It was 10 years since I was last interviewed and to sit here is a huge thrill for me.

"I think I fit the chair - I hope I do. I think I've got the experience to pass on and challenge not only the England team but also myself.

"It's been disappointing but not rock bottom. People see me to be able to go in and turn a club around - very quickly.

"I consider myself to be much more than that but that's the sort of label I was left with. But I can turn things around and try to create a successful journey.

"That starts by us all pulling together in the same direction," he insisted.

Allardyce has been accused of lacking the experience to take England forward, but the former Sunderland boss is adamant his pragmatic style can yield success.

"Man management is my biggest asset and I try to help my players to one, enjoy themselves, and two, be better than they are.

"I choose styles or systems depending on the players available and who we're playing.

"The individual is very important, the bonding of the team is exceptionally important and also to have some fun.

"The game of football is to be enjoyed. As the pinnacle of my career, I want to enjoy this one the most."
