Former Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce is unhappy with comments made by Damien Duff over his fitness training at the start of the season.

Duff last week said it was untrue that Allardyce and his staff had greatly improved the squad's fitness. But Allardyce retorted: "There was nothing wrong with the match fitness when I was there. I think that's a bit of an excuse."
