Allardyce admits Blackburn deserved nothing in Liverpool defeat

Sam Allardyce left Anfield a 'disappointed man' after Blackburn Rovers lost 2-1 to Liverpool. "I'm leaving here a disappointed man because we didn't deserve anything out of the game to be honest," said the Rovers boss to the club's official website.

"I'm disappointed with the way we conceded the two goals.

"We were hanging on in the first half, we were finding life very difficult and of course Paul Robinson had done a magnificent job keeping us in the game and we wanted to make sure we got better in the second half.

"And whilst the overall half you have to say was a lot better than the first, the way we conceded the goals was not the best at all and that is the disappointing thing.

"It shows you that the aerial dominance that is needed in this league today. If you are not sound in that area you'll get found out and we got found out, particularly on the first goal.

"Even though we got back level very quickly, we should have dealt with their second goal easily. Our disjointed back four left Fernando Torres all on his own."

Allardyce felt that without their main centre half pairing of Chris Samba and Ryan Nelsen that they were vulnerable.

"It doesn't help, you need your solid back four, everybody needs that. The ones that have that solid back four concede the fewest, that is why Chelsea are at the top of the league."
