Ali Gerba lashes out at Toronto FC for lack of professionalism

Former Toronto FC forward Ali Gerba has blasted the club's head coach Preki and director of soccer Mo Johnston for their lack of professionalism following his sacking from the club.

The 27-year old Cameroonian was given his marching orders during a pre-season tournament in South Carolina and he believes the way it was done was the worst thing he has experienced as a player.

"He (Preki) didn't even tell me to my face," Gerba said of the coach's email that led to his abrupt departure from the club last month. "That was the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen done to a player."

Gerba said the treatment he received was not only experienced by him, but said that other players at the club were not treated fairly.

"I can't name names. It wouldn't be fair for them," he added. "They're in the situation where they have to work with those people every day."

And Gerba added further that the club deserves better than to have someone like Johnston at the helm.

"We have to really start asking questions," Gerba said in a direct shot at Johnston. "When are you going to have a base of guys who can come and fight for that team.

"The fans and this organization deserve better."
