Ali Gabr: Hegazi chat convinced me about West Brom move

Zamalek defender Ali Gabr is excited about his loan move to West Brom.

Albion have the option to make Ali's transfer permanent in the summer at a fee already agreed between the two clubs. And the 29-year-old can't wait to play in the "best league in the world".

"Of course this is a great opportunity to come to the Premier League - the best league in the world," he said. "It's something I couldn't say 'no' to.

"I'm very happy and excited to be here. I'm really looking forward to getting started with the players and the team.

"I'm here to help the team and to do my job. Whatever the team's targets are, I'm going to help them achieve it."

Ali's addition to the Baggies squad sees him link up with fellow Egyptian - and long-time friend - Ahmed Hegazi.

He also told the WBA website: "I spoke to Ahmed a lot before I came over. We were in constant contact.

"We've known each other for a long time and have played with each other for a long time - even when we were much younger. I feel very comfortable playing alongside him because of our experience together with the national team."
