Ali Abbas re-signs with Newcastle Jets
Iraq international Ali Abbas has extended his stay with A-League club Newcastle Jets.
The 23-year old winger impressed in his 17 appearances for the Jets in 2009/10 and they have decided to sign him for a further year.
Abbas, who was resigned to the fact he was going home to Iraq, was clearly delighted with the new contract.
“I feel great,” he said. “I’m happy because I can stay here for one more year, after that if I have another opportunity I would like to stay for a long time.
“First time, when I came here, I didn’t know anyone here but then I spent time here with the people. I like the supporters, the management, everyone at the Newcastle Jets, I like being close to them because it’s like I have another family here.”
