Algeria partner for Real Madrid

Telecoms company Ooredoo has become a regional partner of Real Madrid in Algeria, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/. Specific terms of the partnership, announced at Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium have not been revealed, but an Ooredoo statement said it would 'result in numerous concrete initiatives to support Algerian youth'.

Qatar-headquartered Ooredoo began a partnership with Zinedine Zidane, the Real legend who is of Algerian descent, in 2006. It has also forged ties with the Algerian national team and has a global deal in place with Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

"Ooredoo's partnership with Real Madrid comes as a natural move in our global sport strategy after other key initiatives," said Sheikh Saud Al Thani, the chief executive of Ooredoo Qatar.

"Ooredoo group will do its utmost to make this partnership a big success in Algeria."

Commenting in a statement, Emilio Butragueño, Real's institutional relations director, hinted at the possibility of the La Liga club visiting Algeria for a friendly match in future.

"We have never been approached for a charity match in Algeria," he said, "but it is not excluded that we organise such a match with Ooredoo as soon as the schedule will allow."
