Alexis nowhere to be seen as Arsenal fall to spirited Bournemouth

Bournemouth secured a much needed 2-1 win over struggling Arsenal at Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners started the match without Alexis Sanchez, with Arsene Wenger revealing before kick-off that the Chilean's future would be sorted imminently.

Fortunately for the Arsenal supporters who made the trek down south, Hector Bellerin scored the opening goal of the game seven minutes into the second half.

Bournemouth, of course, knew that they certainly weren't out of the game given Arsenal's well known defensive frailties.

The stereotype inevitably reared its ugly head 18 minutes later when Ryan Fraser's teasing cross drew Petr Cech from his goal-line, but the Gunners keeper couldn't get to ball before Callum Wilson and the Cherries had their equaliser.

Four minutes later, having obviously not learnt their lesson, Bournemouth were in front through Jordan Ibe. This time, the Arsenal defenders allowed Wilson to control the ball in the box, setting up Ibe to smash past the hapless Cech.

Speaking after the game, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was bemused by the mistakes made by his side.

"I feel overall physically it was a tough game for us," said Wenger.

"It wasn't forced errors, just a lack of decision making.

"We haven't created enough with the possession we had. We weren't sharp enough to create chances.

"Once you're 1-0 up you should create more chances. It's very frustrating and very disappointing, a very disappointing result for us, especially when you're 1-0 up.

"We made mistakes in areas where you wonder where they come from."
