Alex Song is set to make a playing return for West Ham against Charlton Athletic.

Slaven Bilic will hand Song a behind-closed-doors comeback against Charlton Athletic next week as West Ham's summer signing nears full fitness.

"He's just started training with us, he's been with us for one week now," Bilic said. "His injury with his knee and especially his ankle that was operated on is OK. He has no problem with it whatsoever.

"Now it's just a matter of fitness and match fitness. His first game for us after a long period is going to be a friendly on Wednesday and he's going to be that.

"Hopefully, he is naturally fit guy, he should be back soon but not tomorrow or in one week because he had a long break."
